Bias, of course. We are "Friends" of the Gardens. They provide a good selection of Christmas trees. Naturally an attractive park. Lots of wildlife. Occasionally a concert venue. Interesting talks. We are fortunate to live next door.
Weather was good to wander the gardens. But I went for the Butterflies. Many many different ones. Great for photographers. Very hot inside so try leave heavy clothing and valuables not needed in car.
A beautiful botanic garden. Great variety of plants. In the summer, there is a great butterfly display. All the staff are lovely. The cafe looks basic but is actually very good.
What a treat to be able to see these beautiful butterflies. Magnificent. The gardens are a real pleasure to walk around and enjoy so many different varieties of trees and plants. A super place to visit if you have children. Lovely coffee and lemon drizzle cake to finish off with and even bought some plants. Will definitely go back again for a third visit as there's always something different each time you go. But, the butterflies did it for me.
This is a hidden gem of St Andrew's. Reasonably priced entry fee. The highlights are definitely the Butterfly area (for a small extra fee; they only live for 5 - 6 weeks on average and the adjacent glasshouses. However the gardens are also great for a walk through. Nice cafe and a comprehensive plants for sale area on the way out. Give it a visit on your next trip !
